ProTemps Professional Temporary Services has many requests from various clients for Forklift, Counter Balance And Raymond Reach Operators. Most clients request a Certified Forklift Operator, however, not all do require the certification. A minimum of 6 months experience within a warehouse, shop or yard environment is considered an asset. As many of the companies we deal with run 24 hours a day and 7 days per week there are a variety of different shifts available including morning, afternoon, evening and midnight.
Forklift operators are assigned to move materials, load and unload shipping containers and truck trailers. Most forklift operators are needed to physically move materials as well.
Key Competencies
- Good hand/eye coordination
- Working knowledge of a forklift
- Knowledge of WHMIS Training, must pass our safety testing procedures
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED an asset
- Current forklift operator's license (not mandatory for all clients)
Sample Primary Responsibilities
- Safe and efficient maneuvering of forklifts to transport materials between loading, unloading, processing and storage areas
- Organize and secure materials where boxes, pallets and other materials are stored
- Perform routine pre and post inspections on forklift equipment to ensure forklift equipment is operating well
- Weigh materials or products, record weight and other production data on tags or labels
